Who is Becky Nelson?

Becky Nelson

Becky Nelson (July 31, 1939 – March 20, 2006)

Becky Nelson was a nurse, a humanitarian, and an active member of her church and community. She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She never met a stranger, and was genuinely invested in bettering the lives of those around her.

During her lifetime, Becky Nelson made it a point to reach out to people in need. In her final days, she was especially vigilant about providing support to others who, like her, suffered from COPD. Before she succumbed to her illness, she shared with her friends and family her vision of helping those in unfortunate circumstances rise above adversity and branch into new beginnings that would enrich not only their lives, but also the community around them.

Upon Becky Nelson’s death in 2006, the Becky Nelson New Beginnings Fund was established as a way of honoring her life’s work and meaning. Its inception was funded through the generosity of her family members, and to this day her friends and family serve BNNB as voluntary board members. Becky Nelson’s character, integrity, and concern for the wellbeing of others is embodied by, and will continue to live on through, the BNNB mission.
